EX ISG H spark gaps

Lightning protection equipotential bonding in potentially explosive areas

Every year, explosions endanger people and systems around the world. Any company manufacturing, processing or storing combustible substances must expect the risk of explosions. Potentially explosive areas are all those rooms and areas in which gases, vapours, mists or dusts, which can form potentially explosive mixtures with air, can collect to a hazardous level. Explosion protection will prevent damage to technical products, systems and other equipment. Ex spark gaps with suitable connection technology have the task of protecting insulating pieces and flanges against surge voltages and arresting lightning energy without sparks, even when a potentially explosive atmosphere occurs. With the EX-certified spark gaps, OBO offers an effective solution for the avoidance of arcing on insulating pieces and flanges.

Spark gaps for lightning protection equipotential bonding

OBO supplements the product family of the innovative spark gaps of type EX ISG H with two additional ATEX and IECEx-certified articles: EX ISG H KU and EX ISG H 350 2L. Both spark gaps are real masters in lightning protection equipotential bonding in the EX area with tested quality according to IEC / EN 62561-3 (VDE 0185-561-3) and IEC / EN 62561-1 (VDE 0185-561-1). The hot-melt housing, specially constructed for very low temperatures, is resistant to corrosion, weathering and UV. Appropriate connection cables are available both for above-ground and for underground installation. Printed QR codes take you directly to the current instructions and a clear serial number allows the tracing of the spark gaps. In addition, the EX ISG H KU spark gap is shrunk to be waterproof. Each EX spark gap from OBO can be used in Ex zones 1/21 and 2/22.
